Eastin Resort Rayong has been awarded its inaugural Green Globe certification. The luxury resort is situated directly on the shores of Phayun Beach, boasting an uninterrupted sea view over the crystal-clear waters of the Gulf of Thailand.
Eastin Resort Rayong’s Green Globe Committee expressed their delight in this significant achievement, saying “Receiving our first Green Globe certification is an important milestone for our team. It reflects the commitment of our employees, local partners and the wider community. We believe meaningful change begins with practical actions, and we will continue working together to protect the environment and support the community around us.”
Although just starting on its sustainability journey, the resort has already developed and implemented initiatives that address key concerns including regional development, waste management practices and protecting the coastline in Rayong.
Partnership with Rak Rayong
Eastin Resort Rayong has established a partnership with Rak Rayong, a local social enterprise that supports fishing communities by creating additional income opportunities through community-based and environmental initiatives. One project takes plastic bottles, once destined for the sea, and transforms them via an upcycling process into finely woven fibers and later fabric. Through this collaboration, the resort promotes locally made products and supports projects that give recycled materials a new purpose.
This year, Rak Rayong released its Rayong Summer Collection 2026 catalogue. Colourful, bright casual wear for men and women is on show where eye-catching, eco-conscious fashion offers a modern take honouring Thai culture. Comfortable men’s button-up resort shirts and shorts feature playful designs incorporating Rayong Ocean Wave patterns. The design concept draws inspiration from Rayong Province’s 105.61km coastline, where blue sea waves meet its distinctive cream-coloured beaches. These natural elements are translated into the fabric pattern, creating a design that captures the essence of Rayong’s seaside landscape.
Additionally, a traditional Thai sabai or sash stylishly drapes across the shoulder and back of women’s T-shirts. In efforts to grow this circular model, upcycled fabric has been used to make hotel staff uniforms. The initiative helps reduce waste while actively supporting local skills, products and livelihoods.
Onsite Edible Garden
Eastin Resort Rayong is dedicated to ensuring the responsible and efficient use of resources. The hotel promotes sustainable sourcing and prioritizes local suppliers for food and beverage products to reduce carbon emissions while offering fresh, high-quality ingredients to guests. A flourishing onsite kitchen garden has also been established where vegetables, herbs and edible flowers are grown and harvested. Employees from different departments work together to plant, care for and maintain the garden. The garden not only provides kitchens with fresh ingredients but it also encourages teamwork, helping employees understand the value of local food production and the responsible use of natural resources. A simple yet meaningful activity that connects team members and fosters an appreciation of the surrounding environment.
Supporting Environmental Stewardship
Respect for nature is embedded in daily actions at the waterfront resort. Eastin Resort Rayong has introduced waste separation and recycling practices to reduce the amount of waste generated by the property and minimize environmental impacts. The resort is working toward eliminating single-use plastics across the property. Biodegradable cups are preferred, and biodegradable takeaway containers available on request. Refillable glass water bottles and bulk toiletry dispensers in guest rooms have also replaced single-use plastic products. In addition, the team hold regular beach clean ups in line with efforts to keep the resort and nearby areas clean and well maintained.
Local Communities and Coastal Heritage
The resort’s CSR initiatives include community activities and local sustainability projects. Eastin Resort Rayong contributed school and sports supplies, snacks and essential items to the Friends Together for Good Deeds: Fulfilling Dreams, Sharing Love for Children – Year 10 project. Donations were delivered to children and students living in highland and remote communities in Tak Province, where schools often lack access to basic resources.
Eastin Resort Rayong works in collaboration with the Ban Kao Rim Nam Prasae Community Enterprise to support local craftsmanship and coastal heritage. The community creates handmade marine-themed dolls using upcycled and locally sourced materials, giving discarded materials a new purpose while providing additional income opportunities for local residents.
“Although these changes may begin on a small scale, we believe consistent action can encourage positive habits and contribute to the long-term protection of Rayong’s natural environment,” concluded the Eastin Resort Rayong Green Globe Committee.
