Pullman Singapore Orchard: First Hotel Certified by Green Globe in Singapore

Green Globe recently awarded Pullman Singapore Orchard its inaugural certification. As the first and only hotel in Singapore to receive this accolade, it stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication of the entire team to reduce its environmental footprint and champion sustainability in the hospitality industry.

For over 30 years, Green Globe has been renowned as the world’s leading certification for sustainable operations and travel and tourism management. Its extensive evaluation includes 44 sustainability criteria supported by over 380 compliance indicators, applicable to geographical areas and other factors. By meeting Green Globe Certification’s stringent requirements, Pullman Singapore Orchard has effectively satisfied the certification criteria which cover four key areas: Sustainable Management, Social/Economic, Cultural Heritage, and Environmental stewardship.

At Pullman Singapore Orchard, sustainability is the cornerstone of the hotel’s operations. Jessie Lim, the hotel’s Director of Guest Experience and Sustainability, said, “Sustainability is no longer just a buzzword, it's a fundamental responsibility. We are thrilled to be the first and only hotel in Singapore to receive the distinguished Green Globe certification. This monumental milestone not only signifies our commitment but also echoes the resounding dedication of every individual within our team. With innovation as our compass and sustainability as our guiding star, we will continue to forge ahead, setting new benchmarks in pioneering sustainable tourism standards that redefine excellence in hospitality.”

By implementing innovative strategies and embracing sustainable practices, Pullman Singapore Orchard is dedicated to minimizing its impact on the planet while simultaneously delivering value to its guests and stakeholders. Key sustainable initiatives include:
●      Plastic-Free Advocacy: Taking a firm stance against single use plastic usage.
●      Energy Conservation: Achieving a remarkable 30% reduction in energy consumption.
●      Food Waste Reduction: Saving 620 meals and mitigating 390kg of CO2 emissions through effective food waste management.
●      Clean for Green Programme: Launching an impactful initiative encouraging guests to opt-out of daily cleaning services to reduce their carbon footprint.
●      Water Conservation: Conserving over 15% of water resources through efficient management practices.

Jessie adds, “Our commitment extends beyond the confines of our hotel, as we actively engage in Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives to support local communities. From partnering with local charities to organizing volunteer programs, the hotel embraces its role as a responsible corporate citizen, striving to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.”

The National Volunteer Philanthropy Centre recently awarded the hotel an SGCares Giving Week Silver Certificate of Appreciation for its work with less privileged communities during the festive season of 2023.
