Thermes Marins de Monte-Carlo Awarded Green Globe Platinum Certification

Thermes Marins de Monte-Carlo was awarded Green Globe Platinum certification in February 2025, recognition of ten years of unwavering commitment to environmental, social, cultural, and economic responsibility and continuous improvement. As part of the broader Société des Bains de Mer Resort, Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo first achieved Green Globe certification in December 2015, positioning itself among the leaders in luxury spa and wellness tourism. This globally recognised standard evaluates more than 400 compliance indicators and Thermes Marins has satisfied them year after year, culminating now in this highest accolade.

The journey to Platinum status reflects Thermes Marins’ enduring belief that wellness must go hand in hand with sustainable stewardship. Its mission has always been to deliver an exceptional wellness experience while respecting both nature and community. Environmental issues are central to its approach, and eco-responsible practices are now woven through every operation.

Resource management has been reimagined at the property. Single-use plastics have been cut by eliminating swimwear bags and replacing disposable hairnets and slip-on shoes with green alternatives, packaging has been updated to more environmentally friendly materials, and water conservation is taken seriously, with seawater pumped into the pool to reduce reliance on chlorine-based treatments. The spa has embraced greener skincare treatments, selecting natural and organic ingredients such as sweet almond oil, Guérande salt and Agrimer mud, and a hair-recycling initiative has been launched through local associations.

Throughout the property, communication with guests now carries a message of shared responsibility. Guests are encouraged to conserve water, reuse towels and bathrobes, and be mindful of resource use. Signs, schedules, and printed materials promoting sustainability practices are produced using eco-friendly printers.

Gastronomy too reflects the spa’s sustainability values. Local, seasonal produce is harvested from a rooftop herb and aromatic garden that has been expanded in recent years and menus include vegetarian, detox, and gluten-free options. Respect for marine resources is honoured through Thermes Marins’ long-standing membership in the Mr Goodfish programme. Supporting biodiversity is part of the luxury facility’s culture, the spa sponsors hives of endemic black bees in partnership with the Boutons d’Or farm in the hinterlands of Nice.

These measures are not just symbolic, obtaining Green Globe Platinum certification represents significant recognition for Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo’s holistic, decade-long journey toward sustainability. It underscores both the ambition of its leadership and the dedication of its teams to deliver wellness that heals people and protects the planet. As visitors arrive-to relax, rejuvenate, and restore, they do so at a place that holds the future in its plans. Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo looks ahead to continuing this path of responsibility, setting new benchmarks in sustainable luxury wellness.
