Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach Awarded Green Globe Certification for 13th Year
Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach was recently re-certified by Green Globe Certification for the 13th year. The hotel has long demonstrated its commitment to sustainable tourism and maintains its Platinum status, proudly reflecting an ongoing dedication to a more sustainable future through supporting environmentally conscious operations, responsible dining, community partnerships, and innovative guest experiences.
General Manager, Michael Goetz.
In addition to the Green Globe re-certification, for two years in a row until 2024, the hotel also received a Dubai Sustainable Tourism stamp with Silver status by the Dubai department of Economy and Tourism. This was followed by the distinguished Gold stamp in 2025. The Arabian CSR and Sustainability Award was another accolade achieved in 2025.
“We are very proud to receive Green Globe certification for another year. Sustainability is a conscious lifestyle choice. We all have a responsibility to create a better tomorrow for our colleagues, business partners, guests, and families. Every Mövenpick moment we create at Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach is thoughtfully designed with a purpose, for our people and our planet,” said Michael Goetz, General Manager at Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach.
A Sustainable Guest Journey
Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach is committed to creating a more sustainable guest journey, integrating responsible practices across its accommodation, dining and hotel operations. From digital check-in services to energy-efficient guestrooms designed to maximise natural daylight, sustainability is embedded throughout the guest experience.
Technology supports resource efficiency, with a guestroom management system continuously monitoring and optimising energy consumption in both occupied and vacant rooms. Energy efficient LED lighting and equipment, and temperature-control measures also help reduce energy consumption. Water efficiency is supported through implementation of Accor’s Water Charter and ongoing monitoring.
Guests are encouraged to participate in Accor’s Skip the Clean program, helping reduce the frequency of linen and towel replacement while earning ALL – Accor Live Limitless loyalty points. Furthermore, housekeeping teams use environmentally friendly cleaning products, while single-use plastic has been eliminated across guest amenities and touchpoints in favour of recyclable alternatives. Since 2023, the hotel’s on-site water-filtration system has enabled filtered water to be bottled and distributed across guestrooms, restaurants, the spa and meeting facilities, reducing reliance on single-use plastic bottled water.
Sustainable dining is another key focus. At The Talk Restaurant, guests can enjoy sustainably sourced seafood, and seasonal fruits and vegetables, alongside delicious recipes designed to minimise food waste. Other dining venues embrace seasonal ingredients and responsible waste management, while The Falls Café sources coffee locally to support regional suppliers and reduce transport-related emissions. In partnership with Winnow, the hotel measures and monitors food waste, using data-driven insights to identify opportunities for further reduction in collaboration with colleagues, suppliers and business partners.
For corporate guests, the Green Meeting Room concept incorporates hybrid video-conferencing facilities and calculates carbon emissions associated with meetings. Healthy breaks featuring local produce provide a more sustainable alternative for delegates.
With convenient access to Dubai Tram stations, guests are encouraged to explore Dubai using environmentally friendly public transport. Valet services are also available at green parking or electric vehicle charging facilities.
Sustainability at the Heart of the Hotel
Sustainability practices are integrated across the hotel’s operations, with a strong focus on environmental stewardship, community engagement and social inclusion. Through partnerships with local and international organisations, Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach continues to create positive impacts for people and the planet.
The hotel partners with Evolvin’ to provide employment opportunities for nine women from disadvantaged communities across Africa. It also works closely with the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) through initiatives including One Root, One CommuniTree (OROC), Recycle, Reforest, Repeat (RRR), clean-up drives and tree-planting campaigns, contributing to the planting of more than 40 trees last year. Through Accor’s annual Kilo of Kindness campaign, the hotel also supports local communities by donating essential food supplies to NGOs, including the UAE Food Bank.
Social inclusion is another key pillar of the hotel’s sustainability efforts. In partnership with My Maximus, the hotel hosts the annual Mövenpick Christmas Choir and participates in Accor Duo Days and Autism Awareness initiatives, providing meaningful work placements for young adults with special needs. The hotel further demonstrates its commitment to diversity and inclusion by employing a Happiness Ambassador, a talented young adult with special needs who contributes to both guest and Heartist experiences.
Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach recognises the important role that delivery riders play in the community. In collaboration with talabat UAE, it was among the first hotels in the UAE to host a large-scale Iftar for more than 100 delivery riders, acknowledging their contribution to the community.
Sustainability is supported by strong employee engagement and governance. All Heartists, otherwise known as dedicated hotel employees, have completed sustainability training through Accor’s School for Change while the ESG Manager oversees sustainability initiatives and ongoing compliance with recognised environmental and social standards. A dedicated Green Team, with representatives from every department, drives and monitors sustainability programs at the property.
Employee participation continues to generate measurable social impact. This year, 457 volunteers contributed 1,564 volunteer hours, creating an estimated AED 43,600 in social value through green initiatives supporting people, communities and the environment.
